The Juan Fernández Archipelago National Park is volcanic in origin and was created in two distinct phases, the first more than 4 million years ago, which gave rise to a more arid terrain with different colored soils, now home to large colonies of Juan Fernández fur seals (Arctophoca philippi). The newer parts of the archipelago emerged from the Pacific Ocean 2.5 million years ago and are characterized by peaks towering over 500 meters high (1640 feet) and lush forests. For an unforgettable adventure, you can discover the island on horseback. Our horses and mules are well adapted to the island’s unique topography. |
